We currently have a 20 bed Substance Abuse Treatment Program (SAP) for male state inmates only. This is a DOC approved evidence-based curriculum which we contract with DOC to provide for their inmates. These inmates are housed separately from the general population (GP)., forming their own community. It encourages responsibility and accountably through peer support. The program normally takes 6 months to complete. The DOC must approve the inmate’s application before entering SAP. We also are approved for a SAP Mentor. A mentor must complete the initial SAP program but may continue as a SAP mentor as an assigned job. This is also a 6-month program like the initial SAP.

SAMAT - Supportive Assistance with Medication for Addiction Treatment- 2 months prior to release

We also offer Morale Reconation Therapy. This evidence-based treatment program is only offered to state inmates who have been classified by DOC. DOC must approve the inmate’s admittance into the class before they can participate.

MRT Mentor - strive to ensure a higher success rate for those who have previously completed MRT. The mentor is held to a higher standard than the inmate in MRT.  

Portal New Direction - Life skills program designed to provide information and resources to address the most common reentry needs and barriers.

Adult Education classes - Classes are provided through the community college’s GED services. We have a full-time instructor on site and we are a certified testing site.

Work release program - If the sentencing judge gives approval for an individual, at the time of sentencing, work release, we do allow this once the employment is verified and meets our guidelines.

Master Gardener and Pesticide Applicator Certificate - County Extension Office through UK Agriculture Department, conducts an annual Master Gardener Class for both male and female inmates. This is a 16-week program where the inmates learn about plants, insects and horticultural diseases. At the end, there is an exam and a certificate.  Some of the participants earn a Private or Commercial Applicators Certificate for pesticides.
